Sheep are domesticated mammals raised worldwide for various purposes, including wool, meat, and milk. They are highly adaptable creatures, able to thrive in a wide range of climates and landscapes. Sheep farming, also known as sheep husbandry, has been practiced for thousands of years and plays a crucial role in agriculture and animal husbandry.

Reproduction in sheep is a well-coordinated process. Female sheep, known as ewes, have a gestation period of approximately five months. During the breeding season, which typically occurs in the fall, ewes come into heat and are receptive to mating. Rams, the male sheep, play a crucial role in reproduction. They use their large, curved horns to compete for dominance and access to the ewes. Once a ram establishes dominance, he will mate with multiple ewes.

Lambing, the process of giving birth to lambs, usually takes place in the spring when the weather is milder and food is more abundant. Ewes give birth to one or two lambs, although sometimes they may have triplets or even quadruplets. Lambs are born with a strong instinct to seek nourishment, and they start nursing shortly after birth.

Sheep are well known for the production of wool, additionally, sheep also provide milk, which can be used to make dairy products like cheese and yogurt.
